The European Commission has published the evaluation of food contact materials (FCMs) for the first time since Directive 76/893/EEC on FCMs entered into force more than 40 years ago. Several issues have been found including the listing of authorised substances, risk assessment and risk management approaches, information flow and compliance in the supply chain, enforcement and coherence with other EU legislation.
