European Commission launches review of the General Product Safety Directive

The European Commission has launched a consultation on the proposed review of Directive 2001/95/EC, the General Product Safety Directive. The Commission invites feedback from a wide range of stakeholders including consumers, consumer organisations, public authorities and policy makers. The public consultation is open until 6 October 2020 (midnight Brussels time). Alongside the review, the Commission has launched a Roadmap which conducts an impact assessment of the review proposal and is accepting feedback until 1 September 2020 (midnight Brussels time). The results of the impact assessment will help to inform the Commission’s decision.
