The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has announced that the East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST) has signed a legal agreement to protect staff from sexual harassment. In August 2020, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) asked the EHRC to consider taking enforcement action against the EEAST following a CQC inspection which found that the EEAST ‘had not done enough to address serious incidents of sexual abuse against both patients and staff’. After reviewing the CQC evidence, the EHRC found that the EEAST had breached the Equality Act 2010. As a result, as part of its agreement with the EHRC, the EEAST agreed to an action plan.
