Article summary
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has welcomed a report on health and social care leadership, and says it plans to accept all recommendations the report makes. The full report was published on 8 June 2022. The DHSC says that the review found a lack of consistency and coordination in the NHS and evidence of poor behaviour. The report sets out plans to attract and retain NHS leaders, and makes seven recommendations including action to improve equality, diversity and inclusion, a simplified appraisal system in the NHS and consistent management standards delivered through accelerated training. Following the publication of the report, the government will set out a clear deliver plan with clear timelines to implement the recommendations.
