The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has announced a new ‘bureaucracy-busting’ reform drive, which is designed to empower frontline health and care staff by enabling them to spend less time on paperwork and more time with patients. The new drive comes after 1,000 examples of excess bureaucracy were identified by 600 respondents following the DHSC’s public consultation on the topic. Overall, one third of a clinician’s time is currently spent completing administrative tasks in England.
