The Council of the European Union has announced that it has adopted a recommendation amending the earlier recommendation on a co-ordinated approach to the restriction of free movement in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The new recommendation includes two additional criteria that are to be taken into account when considering whether Member States should restrict free movement—namely, the vaccination update and the prevalence of coronavirus variants of concern or interest.
