President of the Family Division, Sir Andrew McFarlane, has published updated practice guidance for child abduction proceedings in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The amendments encompass the issuance of applications, ability to serve orders prior to sealing and the suspension of face-to-face mediations under the Child Abduction Mediation Scheme. These amendments are to apply until further notice. Aspects of the child abduction proceedings not mentioned in this update will continue to operate as usual.
