The International Trade Secretary, Liz Truss, has extended the Trade and Agriculture Commission (TAC) beyond its original six-month mandate and placed it on a full statutory footing. The measure seeks to give farmers a stronger voice in UK trade policy. The TAC is designed to ‘bring together voices from across the sector’ in order to inform trade policy and negotiations. The TAC will report on the impact on animal welfare and agriculture of each free trade agreement (FTA) the government signs after IP completion day.
