Article summary

MLex has reported that dating agency Anoixis has been fined €54,000 by the Greek Data Protection Authority (DPA) for violating both the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (EU GDPR) and national data protection rules regarding unsolicited electronic communications. The DPA received 36 complaints about unsolicited electronic communications by means of short text messages from Anoixis. Following the investigation, the DPA found that Anoixis had violated data subjects’ rights provided by Articles 15 and 21 of the EU GDPR, and that it had also failed to co-operate.
