Article summary

The Association of Consumer Support Organisations (ACSO) has announced that there has been a significant drop in the number of people making injury claims to the government’s Compensations Recovery Unit (CRU). ACSO made a freedom of information request to CRU, which revealed that nearly 50,000 fewer people made a claim in October to December 2020 when compared with the same period the previous year. Motor injury claims are the largest group on the database, and they have fallen by 23% compared to in 2019. ACSO has urged insurers to offer each customer £35 as a reflection of the falling numbers of claims.
