European Parliament has announced that MEPs in the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee have laid out their demands for how digital services (eg online platforms and marketplaces) should be regulated via a vote on 28 September 2020. MEPs have set out that the ‘guiding principles’ of the Digital Services Act (DSA) should be based on the principles of consumer protection and user safety, and ‘what is illegal offline is also illegal online’.
