Company Director held personally liable for misuse of confidential information (Kieran Corrigan v OneE Group & others)

Information Law analysis: This decision of the High Court arose out of a claim for misuse of confidential information brought against a company and three of its directors. At the original trial, judgment had been given against the company and two of the directors but the other director, Mr Timol had been held not liable. The Court of Appeal had ordered a re-trial of the claim against Mr Timol following late disclosure of relevant documents. At the re-trial, Mr Timol was held personally liable for breach of confidence. He was so found because having received confidential information in circumstances importing a confidentiality obligation on him, his misuse of that information, even if he was not conscious of that use, was a breach of that obligation. Commission launches call for Multi-stakeholder Forum on Internet Standards Deployment

The European Commission has launched a call for participants in a Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Internet Standards Deployment to develop guidance for compliance with network security requirements under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2690, adopted pursuant to the Network and Information Systems Directive 2 (NIS2). The Forum aims to identify key Internet standards and best practices, outline appropriate deployment techniques, and establish timeframes for fulfilling regulatory obligations. Its work focuses on four areas: the transition to next-generation network-layer communication protocols, deployment of modern interoperable e-mail standards, enhancement of DNS security, and improvement of Internet routing security and hygiene. The resulting guidance will support entities covered by the Regulation such as DNS service providers, cloud and data centre operators, content delivery networks, managed service providers, and major online platforms while promoting wider voluntary industry adoption.

EDPB launches consultation on GDPR compliance templates for organisations

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has launched a public consultation seeking input on which ready-to-use templates would be most useful for organisations to facilitate Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)) compliance. The consultation, running from 5 November 2025 to 3 December 2025, follows the EDPB's Helsinki Statement on enhanced clarity, support and engagement. The EDPB will create templates for data protection impact assessments and data breach notifications, and is seeking stakeholder views on additional templates that would assist organisations, with examples including privacy notices and records of processing activities. Contributions are limited to 2,500 characters and can be submitted via the EU Survey platform, with responses to be published on the EDPB website following screening by the EDPB Secretariat.
