Road and rail emissions

  1. Regulating transport emissions—explains the climatic impact of the transport sector in the UK. The focus is primarily on road transport, the legal framework for which is better developed than that for rail transport. It covers emissions standards, testing vehicle emissions, type approval, procurement requirements and environmental recall under the Environment Act 2021. It also covers fiscal measures, non-exhaust transport emissions, emissions from non-road machinery, greenhouse gas intensity of fuels and fuel labelling and mobile air conditioning systems, as well as policy on emission reduction
