DESNZ updates UK Low Carbon Hydrogen Standard to Version 4

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has published Version 4 of the UK Low Carbon Hydrogen Standard, updating the framework used by hydrogen producers to calculate and report greenhouse gas emissions and to demonstrate compliance with the low-carbon hydrogen definition. The update is intended to improve clarity, simplify processes and reflect lessons learned from the application of Version 3 and stakeholder feedback.

DESNZ updates Capacity Market appeals process guidance

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESN) updated its Capacity Market appeals process guidance by removing outdated information and providing clearer instructions on appealing termination and reduction notices to the Secretary of State. Originally published on 6 June 2019, the guidance details the appeal processes for capacity providers holding a capacity agreement or a conditional capacity agreement. The updated guidance operates in conjunction with the Capacity Market Rules and forms an integral component of the broader Capacity Market framework that underpins UK energy security. MHCLG and DESNZ publish partial response on reforms to Energy Performance of Buildings regime

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) have published a partial government response to their consultation on reforms to the Energy Performance of Buildings (EPB) regime. The response confirms elements of the government’s planned reforms to Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), Display Energy Certificates (DECs) and air conditioning inspection reports (ACIRs), with a further response covering the remaining proposals to follow in 2026.The consultation ran from 4 December 2024 to 26 February 2025.

DESNZ announces outcome of contracts for difference allocation round 7

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has announced the outcome of the government’s latest renewable energy auction. Allocation Round 7 (AR7) of the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme has awarded contracts for 8.4 GW of renewable electricity capacity, primarily offshore wind, which the DESNZ states is sufficient to supply the equivalent of more than 12 million homes.
