Scottish Government publishes January 2026 cladding remediation update
The Scottish Government’s Cladding Remediation Directorate has published its January 2026 progress bulletin on the Cladding Remediation Programme, reporting that 1,733 Expressions of Interest (EOIs) had been received via the Single Open Call (SOC) as of 30 November 2025, with an almost even split between privately owned buildings and social landlords. In 2026, the programme will focus on developing SOC stage 2, concentrating on mitigation, design and remediation works identified through the Single Building Assessment (SBA) process. The update also confirms that a Social Housing Cladding Oversight and Assurance Group has been established, chaired by, Deputy Director for Operational Delivery, Jennifer Veitch to monitor progress in the social housing sector and support the commitment that by 2029 affected buildings will either be fully resolved or on a funded pathway to resolution. Management information as of 31 December 2025 further shows that 452 EOIs (26%) had been identified as ineligible for Programme funding to carry out an SBA, although eligibility checks were not complete at that date and that initial grant or funding offers had been issued in relation to 494 EOIs. 17 SBAs had been completed, with urgent interim measures in place in eight related buildings and remediation works having commenced in two.
