ONS announces 0.9% increase in construction output for April 2025

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has published data, indicating a 0.9% increase in construction output for April 2025. This was attributed to increases in new work (1.4%) and repair and maintenance (0.3%). At the sectoral level, six out of the nine sectors saw growth in April 2025, with the main contributors being infrastructure new work (2.0%), and private housing repair and maintenance (1.5%). Total construction output is estimated to have increased by 0.5% over the three months leading up to April 2025, attributed to increases in new work (0.9%) and repair and maintenance (0.1%).

JCT announces release schedule for Target Cost Contract 2024

The Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) has announced that the Target Cost Contract 2024—a new addition to its contract suite—will be released on 25 June 2025. The release will also include several supporting documents: the Target Cost Sub-Contract Agreement 2024, Target Cost Sub-Contract Conditions 2024, Target Cost Contract Guide 2024, Target Cost Sub-Contract Guide 2024 and the Tendering Practice Note 2024. These documents incorporate changes resulting from the implementation of the Procurement Act 2023 (PA 2023), which came into force on 24 February 2025.
