The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) has announced the launch of its Five Client Carbon Commitments, which will be used to enable organisations to demonstrate how they are reducing their carbon emissions. The CLC has noted that six organisations, Anglian Water, Heathrow, the Lower Thames Crossing, National Highways, Northumbrian Water and Sellafield Ltd, were the first to sign up and encourages further organisations to join. The Construction Industry Council (CIC) has asserted that those organisations which have already signed up are expected to 'invest tens of billions into UK infrastructure' and has suggested that this will aid in providing supply chain certainty with regard to the need for low carbon alternatives. The CIC has confirmed that additional organisations, including East West Rail, the Environment Agency, Houses of Parliament Restoration & Renewal and the National Grid, are scheduled to sign up to the pledge later in 2024.
