The United Kingdom Constitution Monitoring Group (UKCMG) has published issue three, volume two of its report titled 'The Constitution in Review,' assessing UK constitutional developments between 1 July and 31 December 2025 against 20 constitutional principles. The report highlights concerns about declining adherence to constitutional standards, threats to democracy and weaknesses in oversight mechanisms. It identifies risks including misinformation, foreign interference, low electoral turnout and abuse of candidates, alongside concerns over delegated powers, weak parliamentary scrutiny and executive dominance. The report notes reforms such as the creation of an Ethics and Integrity Commission but questions its independence and effectiveness. The UKCMG emphasises the need to uphold constitutional principles, strengthen the rule of law and improve electoral participation and accountability.
