Traffic Commissioners for Great Britain announced that Deputy Traffic Commissioner Gerallt Evans has revoked the operator's licence held by BTW Transport Ltd following a public inquiry. The inquiry revealed extensive failures in vehicle maintenance, driver management, and regulatory compliance. Key findings included that director Byron Thomas Williams knowingly permitted vehicles to operate for three weeks after the operator's licence was revoked on 6 November 2024, and that vehicles continued to run without valid excise duty. The licence revocation took effect on 22 October 2025, disqualifying BTW Transport Ltd from holding any operator's licence until 22 October 2026. In addition, director Byron Thomas Williams received a concurrent 12‑month disqualification, and former transport manager Nichola Ogilvie was found to have lost her good repute and was disqualified from acting as a transport manager until further order.

The Retail Distribution Review and the Training and Competence sourcebook The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) created the status of 'accredited body' following a lengthy consultation process instigated by the Financial Services authority (FSA) in 2006. In 2008, the FSA published its final statement on the Retail Distribution Review (RDR) which introduced new professionalism standards for retail investment advisors. In December 2012, the standards came into effect through changes in the rules contained in the Training and Competence sourcebook (TC) of the FCA Handbook. The RDR raised the benchmark qualification level for all 'retail investment advisers,' meaning employees who: • give personal recommendations on securities (other than stakeholder pension schemes, personal pension schemes or broker funds) • give personal recommendations on derivatives • give personal recommendations on retail investment products (other than broker funds) • give personal recommendations on Friendly Society tax-exempt policies (other than Holloway sickness policies where the Holloway policy special application conditions are met) • give personal recommendations on and deal in securities (other than stakeholder pension schemes, personal pension schemes or broker funds) • give

Training and competence—appropriate examination standards The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Training and Competence Sourcebook (TC) requires individuals to attain the appropriate qualifications if they are carrying out certain regulated activities for retail customers. Qualifications are available through qualification providers and some training companies. The content and level of these appropriate qualifications is prescribed through appropriate examination standards (AES). The activities and products/sectors to which the TC Sourcebook applies are listed in TC App 1. For more information on the FCA’s TC regime, including the firms and activities to which it applies and what it requires, see Practice Note: FCA—training and competence. A qualification offered by a provider must meet the AES. It may comprise the whole of a qualification provider’s qualification or part of it. It is for qualification providers to decide the examination strategy and structure they will use to meet the required AES. Whatever examination strategy is used, the arrangements for testing achievement against the AES should be clearly stated in both the examination design and the materials used to communicate the provider’s
