FIFA has announced the launch of the Football Jurisprudence Database, a public digital platform providing access to football-related legal decisions from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and the Swiss Federal Tribunal (SFT). The database covers cases from 2002 onwards and includes search functionality by procedure, topic, year, outcome, arbitrators and applicable regulations. It is designed to support legal research and analysis by enabling users to explore decisions that have shaped football governance. FIFA stated that football disputes represent over 72% of CAS cases and that the database forms part of its broader transparency and legal education initiatives.

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has published the 2026 edition of its legal handbook, which brings together FIFA’s latest regulations, legal guides, circulars and related documents, including updated versions of the FIFA Governance Regulations, FIFA Disciplinary Code and FIFA Clearing House Regulations. It also includes amended regulations that will enter into force in January 2027, including new editions of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players and the Procedural Rules Governing the Football Tribunal.

FIFA has published its quarterly report on the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)'s football awards for the period between April and June 2026, covering over 20 arbitration decisions. Key rulings include: (1) CAS upholding Article 12bis sanctions against Sport Club Corinthians Paulista in two separate transfer fee disputes, confirming that financial hardship does not excuse non-payment obligations; (2) four Al Fayha coaching staff members successfully defending contractual termination options negotiated against a backdrop of the club's repeated salary payment defaults and (3) Ostuni 24 held liable as the sporting successor of defunct Ostuni 45, given its shared name, colours, stadium and players.

FIFA has published the second edition of the CAS and football annual report. The report reflects the activities of the Court of Arbitration (CAS) in football related disputes from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2023, with a focus on appeals filed against FIFA decisions in 2023. During the reporting period, 431 appeals were filed before CAS against FIFA decisions, which is about 1.2% of the 37,000 decisions taken by FIFA and FIFA bodies. There were also 136 total decisions received by FIFA in which it was a party.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has published a webpage to help firms work out if they need to pay the Economic Crime Levy. The FIN074 is a RegData Report introduced in April 2023 and designed to help the FCA identify which firms are liable to pay the new levy. If firms believe they are exempt, they need to contact the FCA.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has updated its webpage providing information for firms supervised by the FCA under the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 on the FIN074 return. FIN074 identifies which firms need to pay the Economic Crime Levy; the FCA has clarified the UK revenue data which should be reported and clarified how to address issues related to FIN074. The FCA warns that firms failing to submit the required data face an administration fee and risk receiving the levy in error.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) has published Regulatory Notice 26-06 requesting comments on modernising its arbitration rules, guidance and processes. The Notice focuses on key areas including forum selection, eligibility, motions to dismiss, arbitrator qualifications, discovery, punitive damages, explained decisions and unpaid awards. It forms part of FINRA’s broader review aimed at enhancing transparency, impartiality and efficiency in its arbitration forum, following stakeholder feedback and issues raised in prior rule modernisation initiatives. Comments will inform potential changes to FINRA’s arbitration framework, including customer and industry dispute procedures, arbitrator standards, discovery practices and mechanisms to address unpaid awards. Comments are invited by 1 May 2026.
