The Welsh Government has announced that in an effort to 'support learner and staff wellbeing, tackle educational inequalities and bring them more in line with patterns of family life and employment', 14 schools will take part in a national trial, providing additional hours for learners during a ten week programme this academic year. The Welsh government is provding up to £2m of funding in an effort to support the trial. The schools have volunteered to take part in this trial and the Welsh Government has said that it hopes that the trial will address the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on learning.
