The UK government, the Welsh Government, the Scottish Government and the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs in Northern Ireland have launched a public consultation on the Joint Fisheries Statement (JFS). The JFS sets out policies for achieving, or contributing to achieving, the eight objectives outlined in the Fisheries Act 2020 (FA 2020). In line with the objectives outlined in the FA 2020, the JFS considers how the UK will adopt an ecosystem-based approach to fisheries management and includes a commitment to mapping and protecting our blue carbon resource. The final JFS will be published in November 2022. The consultation closes at 11.45 pm on 12 April 2022.
