The Council of the European Union has announced that it has reached a provisional agreement with the European Parliament on the second version of the EU’s flagship Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The Council of European Union has stated that CEF 2.0, will continue to fund key projects in the transport, digital and energy area. CEF 2.0 is due to run from 2021—2027 with a budget of €33.71bn. The Council of the European Union has reported that the transport sector has been allocated €25.81bn, the energy sector will receive €5.84bn and the digital sector will receive €2.06bn. The programme aims to 'mainstream' climate action.
