Pensions analysis: In the determination of Dr N (PO-21236) the Pensions Ombudsman upheld a complaint that the NHS Pension Scheme (the Scheme) had incorrectly taken account of a period of added years in calculating a member’s pension. In doing so, the Pensions Ombudsman went beyond the narrow terms of a consent order remitted back to him for consideration. Martin Scott of gunnercooke LLP looks at the decision.
