The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) has found that the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has failed to communicate changes regarding the women’s State Pension age. This comes after an investigation into the DWP’s communications since the Pensions Act 1995. The PHSO has constantly received complaints on DWP communications with many experiencing financial loss as a result of not being aware of changes. The DWP failed to take account of the need for targeted and tailored information and kept issuing information in the same manner in 2005, despite its lack of success in 2004. This occurred again in 2006. The PHSO found that women should have received at least 28 months more notice than they got.
