Ofgem has launched an inquiry into the £1.3bn Western high-voltage direct current subsea cable. The investigation reviewed the joint venture project between National Grid Electricity Transmission and Scottish Power Transmission and the extent to which late delivery amounts to a breach of special condition licence 6I. The assessment also examined compliance with the Electricity Act 1989, the performance of both companies in delivering the cable, and potential breaches regarding the operation of the cable.
