Ofgem has provided a response to the Electricity System Operator’s (ESO) draft Forward Plan consultation 2020–21. Ofgem reviewed the plan against its expectations and provided ESO with comments to consider. Specifically, Ofgem highlights that ESO must be more precise in terms of the activities being delivered. Additionally, Ofgem requests that an explanation is provided as to why certain deliverables have been prioritised and how they enable ESO to achieve its 2025 ambitions. Ofgem has required ESO to describe clearly what will be delivered throughout 2020 and provide milestones to measure performance, as Ofgem continues its work with ESO.
