Ofcom has published its General Notice of Final Decision on variation of radiocommunications licences which require compliance with international guidelines for limiting exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF) to protect the general public. Ofcom have said that the publishing of this document follows after it ‘notified licensees of a proposal to vary radiocommunications licences to include a new licence condition’, on 1 March 2021, which Ofcom ultimately proceeded with. Ofcom has further published its decision to require licensees to ‘keep records demonstrating how they comply’ and have made changes to the licence condition and the ‘Guidance on EMF Compliance and Enforcement’, which clarify and reduce the impact on licensees.
