Article summary
The Nursing & Midwifery Council has announced that the launch of its new Test of Competence, which was due to go live in summer 2020, has been postponed until April 2021 in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Council believes that the delay will allow candidates, employers and recruiters adequate time to prepare for the new test. When it is launched, the test will be used to ‘assess the skills and knowledge of people wanting to join our register from overseas or rejoin our register after a long period away from practice’. A detailed timeline of implementation of the new test will be published in due course.
