The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy has announced that the government has reached an agreement with EDF on the decommissioning of all seven advanced gas cool reactor (AGR) nuclear power stations. EDF is to work with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) to ensure that the energy supply is not interrupted while these works take place, with renewable energy expected to fill in the gap.
