Article summary
The Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) has published guidance for tenants dealing with anti-social behaviour (ABS) by clarifying the roles of the agencies responsible for tackling ASB and help available. ASB can include noisy and/or abusive behaviour, vandalism, graffiti, intimidation, public drunkenness, littering, fly tipping, illegal drug use and excessively barking dogs. The MHCLG has urged individuals who feel threatened by the ASB to call the police. Other ports of call are landlords, local authorities, speaking directly to your neighbours if appropriate and other agencies like Citizens Advice or ASB Help. If serious, an ASB case review could be requested, subject to approval by the relevant local authority.
