The Planning Inspectorate has announced that the application for development consent for the 'Sizewell C Project’ has been accepted for examination. The proposed Sizewell C Project is a nuclear power station in Suffolk and includes ‘an expected net electrical output of approximately 1670 MW per unit, giving a total of approximately 3340 MW’. The Secretary of State consulted on the ‘likely significant effects on the environment in other states’ and concluded that the development is not likely to ‘have significant effects in any other states outside of the UK’. The government welcomes signatory states, the UK public and people in other states with an interest in the proposed development to raise their views on the 'the main issues and the impacts of the development'. Interested parties can register online and the deadline for registration is 30 September 2020.
