In the statement, ILPA expresses its concern that the new fee, in real terms, ‘amounts to a reduction at a time when legal aid practitioners are least able to afford it’. ILPA also mentions that it believes there should have been a consultation on what the new fee structure would look like and ‘representative bodies should have had the opportunity to provide proper input into the new fee structure’.
