The Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) has held the first meeting of its Experts' Group (EG) on Digital Tokens from 16–18 June 2025. The hybrid meeting, attended by 53 delegates from 18 HCCH Members and eight Observers, focused on private international law issues related to digital tokens. The EG is to focus on two workstreams (1) the UNCITRAL Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records is to be used as a key use case study for digital trade documents and the EG will consider the feasibility of producing guidance which would complement and function alongside this and (2) the second workstream will review questions arising from the EG's issue paper which focus on jurisdiction, applicable law and the recognition and enforcement of judgments.
