The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has urged the government to not dilute vital policies aimed at protecting the environment in his new London Plan. The plan was scrutinised in detail by government-appointed inspectors in December 2019, which resulted in a number of suggested changes which the Mayor did not accept, such as reducing the protection of the Green Belt and removing complete rejection of any fracking in London. The Mayor’s plan was scrutinised further on 6 February 2020 by the London Assembly.
