The Department for Education has proposed to the independent School Teachers’ Review Body that teachers starting salaries be raised to £26,000 in September 2020, and towards £30,000 by September 2022. Experienced teachers, heads and school leaders would also see an above inflation increase to their pay of 2.5%. According to the department, these changes could see 1,000 extra teachers retained annually by 2022–23.
