The Head of General Insurance of the Association of British Insurers, Mark Shepherd, has responded to a report published by the think tank Bright Blue. The report suggested extending Flood Re to all properties built after 2009. Mr Shepherd commented that this suggestion would be counterproductive, as it would incentivise inappropriate housing developments in flood risk areas while increasing insurance costs for all homeowners.
