The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has reported that substances causing cancer, genetic mutations or harming reproduction may have been found in childcare products. The ECHA’s investigation report provides elements to help the European Commission prepare a potential future EU-wide restriction and includes views on the feasibility of enforcing such a restriction. The report will be sent to the Commission to help prepare a draft restriction proposal under Article 68(2) of Regulation (EU) 1907/2006 (EU REACH).
