The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dslt) has announced the opening of a new research facility to accommodate specialist operational and laboratory capabilities funded by the Home Office. The facility has brought together the Home Office Centre for Applied Science and Technology (CAST) staff, law enforcement, policing, counter-terrorism interests and military research. The Dstl has said that ‘ideas can be exchanged and innovation funded in one area can be applied to multiple problems, which is also efficient and cost-effective’. The capabilities at the facility include audio, video and body worn surveillance, innovative spaces and ground and water based search support to frontline investigations.
