Article summary
The European Distribution System Operators Entity (EU DSO Entity) and the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) have submitted a joint proposal for the Network Code on Demand Response to the European Union Agency Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER). The Network Code on Demand Response hopes to ensure the incorporation of demand-side flexibility resources into the energy system required for the decarbonisation of the power system for overall consumer benefit, and includes more rules to make room for the aggregation of resources, demand response rules and energy storage across the EU. This proposal was consolidated through stakeholder input via an early public consultation, two public workshops and the support of the Drafting Committee. ACER has six months to review and amend the proposal in line with the framework guideline before submitting it to the European Commission.
