The Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities (DLUHC) and the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities, Michael Gove have published a letter to residents on the future of Grenfell Tower. In the letter, Gove reaffirmed the government’s commitment to putting the community at the heart of determining a fitting memorial for the site and to how future decisions about Grenfell Tower are approached and taken. Gove has confirmed that as a result of feedback that consultations were rushed and provided insufficient time to respondents on the future of the tower, he stated that ‘now is not the right time to take a decision about the future of Grenfell Tower’. He has also confirmed his intention to continue the safety works in the tower in line with engineering advice to ensure its stability until a decision is made.
