The Department of Transport (DfT) has announced the first parts of the UK to run all electric bus services, these are namely Coventry and Oxford. Areas that choose to introduce the all-electric bus service could be awarded £50m, meaning up to 500 buses could be replaced, which would save thousands of tonnes of CO2 each year. So far 19 towns and cities have applied to the all-electric bus competition. This follows the announcement made in February 2020 by the government on the £5bn for a new golden era for buses and active travel.
