Crown Estate Scotland has announced that three offshore wind projects will be offered seabed agreements following its Scotwind clearing process. The three successful applicants include Ocean Winds, Mainstream Renewable Power and ESB Asset Development that will pay a total of £56m in option fees and this will be passed to the Scottish Government for public spending. The area of seabed covered by the three projects is just over 560km2 and this is expected to generate 2.8 gigawatts of electricity. Crown Estate Scotland’s announcement follows an offshore wind supply chain summit held on 22 August 2022 in Aberdeen, Scotland with Sir Ian Wood, and chaired by Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Energy, Michael Matheson, including a keynote address by First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon.
