The Scottish Government has introduced a new grant for those on low incomes that are asked to self-isolate. Applications for the new £500 grant are expected to be open from 12 October 2020, will be operating through the Scottish Welfare Fund and administered by local authorities. The aim of the grant is to benefit those facing significant financial hardship due to needing to self-isolate but unable to work remotely and receiving Universal Credit or legacy benefits. Local authorities will also have the power to make discretionary grant awards to others in financial hardship.
