The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has published guidance on the new coronavirus (COVID-19) alert levels for England, including what each level entails and why these localised measures are being introduced. This ‘local COVID alert levels’ will replace current guidance at 00.01 am on 14 October 2020. Until then, areas with local restrictions must follow existing guidance’. The government is introducing the new alert levels to ensure ‘the right levels of intervention in the right places’ and to simplify the guidance.
