MLex has reported that the CNIL levied a record €218m in fines in 2021, according to the its 2021 annual report, published on 11 May 2022. CNIL issued 135 official warnings, 89 of which were about cookies. The report also says that the regulator received 5,037 notifications of data breaches, a 79% increase on 2020.
