The Housing Ombudsman Service has announced that new powers set out in the revised Housing Ombudsman Scheme are now in force (as of 1 September 2020). The revised scheme aims to further protect social housing tenants by improving awareness, accessibility and speed of complaint resolution. In light of the powers in the revised scheme, the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) and the Housing Ombudsman have agreed a Memorandum of Understanding setting out the functions of both organisations and how they intend to work together. This includes a commitment to sharing information and notifying RSH on findings of severe maladministration for further investigation.
