The Cabinet Office has published the notes from the eighth meeting of the Interministerial Standing Committee (IMSC), held on 27 February 2025 via video conference. The meeting was co-chaired by the Northern Ireland Executive First Minister, Michelle O’Neill MLA, and deputy First Minister, Emma Little-Pengelly MLA, and attended by ministers from the UK, Scottish and Welsh governments responsible for intergovernmental relations. Discussions focused on the ongoing review of the UK Internal Market Act, the Sewel Convention, as well as the need for the UK and devolved governments to safeguard assets of national importance. The IMSC also received an update from the Cabinet Office Parliamentary Secretary on the use of technology in public sector reform. Additionally ministers discussed shared opportunities and priorities for joint working. The next IMSC meeting is scheduled for May 2025 and will be chaired by the Scottish Government.
