Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to technologies designed to perform tasks commonly associated with human intelligence, such as perceiving, analysing, learning, reasoning and drawing conclusions.

Generative AI (GenAI) refers to AI systems that generate new content, such as text, images, music, and more, based on the data they have been trained on. The AI systems generate outputs of a particular form when a user inputs a prompt or it is given an instruction from a set list. The output is variable and the same prompt will not necessarily produce the same output. Dealing with IP and GenAI involves navigating complex questions of ownership, liability, and the application of existing IP rights to:
