13.1 Service of process on overseas party

If one of the parties to a contract is resident or has its registered office or equivalent outside the United Kingdom, the service of legal proceedings on that party when that party is outside the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom courts or of a contracting state may require the permission of the courts1.
