51.3 Telephone and fax preference services

In the areas of telephone and fax marketing, statutory preference services are operated by the United Kingdom’s Direct Marketing Authority. The regimes here are ‘opt-out’ except where automated systems are used to send recorded messages by telephone or where direct marketing faxes are to be transmitted to individual subscribers, where in each case an ‘opt-in’ regime applies1.
